COSI's Strategy
Governments worldwide have pledged their commitment to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) – which make specific reference to improved water supply and sanitation – and we believe that all stakeholders, including local organisations and international donors should work towards these goals through a collaborative effort.
Therefore, COSI will continue to form partnerships to provide training and management of development projects while expanding capabilities in the areas of:
• capacity building at all levels with special focus on communities and front-line staff and community development workers.
• knowledge-sharing and information management in the Water, Environmental Sanitation and Hygiene (WESH) sector.
• conducting action research and publishing the outcomes.
In addition, we will continue to support development projects and programmes by giving constructive criticism through back-stopping, monitoring and evaluations.
Our Medium term objectives
• Seizing the opportunities offered through networks such as SRIWASH, COSI will achieve recognition as a facilitator through its role in establishing cooperation between network organisations and professionals on the ground (e.g. water, environment, sanitation and hygiene managers and front-line workers in Sri Lanka).
• Programme-level co-operation in COSI’s areas of competence will be established with STREAMS partners in the Asia region and beyond.
• COSI aims to create long-term strategic partnerships with other organisations sharing the same vision, international organisations and government agencies
• COSI will establish competence in areas such as Advocacy, Knowledge Management, Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) and make available appropriate solutions to partner organisations.
