SODIS

An agreement between EAWAG and COSI to promote and disseminate SODIS in Sri Lanka was signed in April 2002. A detailed Project Preparation Report was submitted by COSI as a partial fulfillment of this agreement. The organizations that were already involved in projects related to water, sanitation and hygiene were considered to involve with SODIS activities.

Identifying partner organizations for SODIS field activities, identifying the needy communities, training & promotional activities at field level, networking & continuous monitoring of progress with follow-ups were the most significant activities taken place in the first project year 2002/3.

Project activities with partner organizations began in August 2002. COSI worked together with 9 partner organizations, local and international, and 9 schools in Batticaloa district for this project. This report will give the detailed information on how the project progressed in the first year of its implementation, from August 2002 to September 2003.
