Highlights of the First Quarter of Year 2008

With the UNO declaring the new year 2008 as the International Year of Sanitation, COSI continued to work with goals of improving the conditions of Water, Environmental Sanitation and Hygine (WESH) of the people in need.

Highlights of WASPA

Under the WASPA PAP (Participatory Action Plan), the following activities were implemented

• 2 Stakeholders workshops with industrialists, consultants and experts on wastewater treatment on a local and national level was conducted.
• A booklet was designed to provide data and infromation on Safe Wastewater Disposal Mehtods to the polluters of Greater Kurunegala area
• Activities are being carried out to create awareness among the commercial establishments on proper disposal methods of soild and liquid waste
• Sanitation facilities are given those in need in the Wilgoda community

Highlights of RIWASH

The planning and documentation phase of the project Rural Integrated Water Sanitation and Hygine project (RIWASH) was undertaken by COSI with the help of the Department of geology, University fo Peradeniya.

The assessments were conducted for World Vision.
