What is RIWASH

What is RIWASH

Based on World Banks’ community based model, to serve as a water and sanitation (WatSan) service delivery project, RIWASH was designed to address the impacts caused by the Tsunami in affected and non-affected areas within the same districts and aims to build capacity of the Local Government (LG), Community Based Organizations (CBO) and other Partner Organizations (PO).

Funded...

RIWASH is funded by Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) through the Tsunami matching grant fund where charitable contributions from Canadians were matched by CIDA.

Consultants...

World Vision Lanka (WVL) sought consultants to undertake a standard set of assessments at the micro unit level i.e. GND level, with the purpose of gathering necessary information for the database required for the project and to formulate GND and PS Master Plans.

Through competitive bidding, COSI Foundation for Technical Cooperation (COSI) was selected as consultants for the preparation of Master Plans and the objective of the assignment was to develop detailed GND and PS Master Plans for the implementation of sustainable potable water, sanitation, solid waste and hygiene programmes in Navithanvelli, Pottuvil and Trirukkovil of Ampara District.

RIWASH Objectives

Overall RIWASH project goal is to contribute to a sustainable, healthy, safe and productive rural population in Sri Lanka. Expected results of the project are;
