Learning Alliences

With the Objective of improving knowledge generation and sharing, to strengthen the capacity of local stakeholders and to improve collaboration , WASPA has adopted the concept of Learning Alliances ( commonly known as LA). The LA comprises of multi-Stakeholder learning platforms at different institutional levels and hoes to facilitate development & testing of innovative approaches to address complex problems such use of waste water in agriculture, and capacity built for scaling up.

In Kurunegala, the WASPA pilot site in Sri Lanka the LA represents the following organizations.

• Municipal council

• Urban Development Authority

• District Secretariat

• Divisional Secretariat

• Grama Niladhari Divisions representing Polluters & Farmers

• National Water Supply and Drainage Board

• Deputy Provincial Director of Health Service

• Public Health Instructor-PHI

• Ministry of Health

• Central Environmental Authority

• Industrial Development Board

• Farmer Organization

• Department of Agrarian Development District Office

• Agrarian Service Divisional Office

• Irrigation Department; Kurunegala head office and Ibbagamuwa branch

• Multi Service Corporation Societies , Shanty

• Urban householders, Institutions

• Kurunegala Teahching Hospital and other private medical instituions,

• Industries, Traders , Markets

Outside the City Limits

  • Pradeshiya Sabha
  • Farmers of Weherabanda, Henamulla, Wilgoda, Aswedduma, Dematagahapelassa, Kaudawatta
  • NGOs such as SEPA Foundation, Sarwodaya, Religious Organizations, ITDG, Sanasa, Wayaba Sanwardana Bank
